During 2011-2012, FECCA will create and distribute a pilot audio visual promotion video in collaboration with DonateLife to encourage organ and tissue donation in Muslim communities. The video’s content and distribution will be guided by consultations with a Steering Committee comprised of influential and respected members of the Australian Muslim community, and will provide culturally appropriate information, encouragement, and promotion of organ and tissue donation for the Muslim community in all its diversity.

This pilot project is in partnership with Muslims Australia (AFIC) and the Canberra Multicultural Communities Forum (CMCF) and aims to foster greater understanding of DonateLife messages surrounding organ donation within Muslims communities across Australia. Through use of the video format, FECCA aims to capture the various nuances of beliefs and protocols in Muslim communities. The project will also provide links between significant peak organisations in the CALD sector and grassroots communities, and create new avenues for dissemination of important information now and into the future.
