Usman Khawaja's statement:

The "Reclaim Multiculturalism" press conference was held in Sydney on 30 November 2010 at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

The event was attended by nearly 100 people including valued members and office bearers from ECCNSW, partner organisations in "Reclaim Multiculturalism" campaign, radio, television and printed media and our distinguished guests including The Hon. John Hatzistergos (NSW Attorney General and Minister for Citizenship who was representing the Premier), Dr. John Hewson, Juliana Nkrumah, Founder of African Women Australia and FECCA Chair, Pino Migliorino. Dr. Andrew Jakubowicz was the Master of Ceremonies.

There were video statements from Usman Khawaja, the rising star of Australian cricket and Ms Maria Vamvakinou, the Federal MP for Calwell.

Sydney's Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE) provided a fitting digital story to close the conference titled "Roxie's Story." (http://vimeo.com/10768961)

There has been extensive media coverage about the event including interviews with Dr. John Hewson and with Pino Migliorino. You can access some of the interviews by clicking on the links below:

In addition to these, Pino was also interviewed on SBS news last night, 6PR (Perth) and 4ZZZ (Gold Coast), Radio Adelaide by ethnic broadcasters including Filipino and Italian media.

FECCA is co-hosting "Equal Dialogues: A forum on Cultural Diversity and Rights" with the Australian Human Rights Commission in Sydney on Tuesday 7 December. This event has already generated high interest and we will release the latest issue of Australian Mosaic which focuses on Diversity and Rights at this forum. We also plan other public forums and events to continue our work in this arena.
