FECCA is currently developing a video about organ and tissue donation for Muslim communities in Australia, with support from the Organ and Tissue Authority. This important video will have substantive input from key Islamic figures, and will be guided by materials showing the importance of organ and tissue donation and the conditions of its permissibility within the Islamic faith. The project team is eagerly looking for a Muslim individual or family who have been touched by organ and tissue donation and would be willing to share their story for this video. Please contact Hannah at hannah@fecca.org.au or phone (02) 6282 5755.

The FECCA Executive and Team are proud to announce the appointment of our new CEO, Dr Loucas Nicolaou.
We look forward to working closely with Loucas to build upon and further the advocacy work of FECCA.

FECCA has submitted its report on the Access and Equity Inquiry consultations which took place in February and March. The consultations were well attended and full of constructive and lively discussion. We are very grateful to all those who made time to come along, to our partner bodies for their generosity in providing many of the venues for these consultations, and to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship for providing FECCA with the opportunity facilitate these important face-to-face consultations.
Along with public submissions, FECCA’s report forms part of the material that the Inquiry panel considers in making its recommendations to the Government about the future of the Access and Equity Framework and Strategy. The FECCA report made ten findings in relation to how the Access and Equity Framework and Strategy could be improved to better serve the needs of CALD communities. In addition, FECCA was also pleased to be able to provide some analysis of the Access and Equity issues facing CALD communities living in rural and remote parts of Australia. FECCA looks forward to hearing the results of this Inquiry when they are released later this year.
